MBX connected Levi’s®, SFH, Johns Hopkins, South African National Department of Health & PEPFAR in a 5-year partnership to address HIV prevention in young adults. Through HCD and co-creation, the globally awarded campaigns broke rules yet achieved impressive results. National surveys twice found statistically significant and measurable behavior change as a direct result of Red For Life and Scrutinize.

Description
MBX won this HCD challenge which challenged 3 global firms to rethink how HIV Self-testing could bring in “last mile” men into treatment. MBX prototyped and developed a business model for a new HIVST distribution along with a disruptive and localized media campaign to uniquely address the stigma preventing testing and treatment uptake.

MBX provided creative and strategic insights to the Office of the Presidency and SANAC. As a result, the government pivoted its national conversation on HIV to a personal call to action. This campaign was cited by the Minister of Health as dramatically increasing national HIV testing numbers over a 5 year period.

The ASI’s ambitious HIV prevention objective was to circumcise 120 000 men in eSwatini in six months. By applying HCD with government and global HIV experts, the Royal structures, implementing partners, and Swazi citizens, MBX could facilitate the co-creation of a VMMC campaign that in 3 months achieved 96% national awareness of circumcision benefits.
